Our story
I’m Russ, and I started Alafia Cast Co. because I love to fish. I wanted clothes that hold up to a full day on the water, with Florida fishing art I’d actually want to wear.
The name comes from the Alafia River, which runs into Tampa Bay. The river and the bay inspire everything we make, from the osprey in our logo to the fish in our designs.
I’m also fair-skinned, and the Florida sun is no joke. I burn fast, I hate the feel of sunscreen, and I’m tired of it stinging my eyes and reapplying it all day.
Why I started with sun shirts
I wanted something I could just put on before heading out, so there’s less skin left to cover in sunscreen.
So our sun shirts and hoodies are made from a lightweight UPF 50+ performance fabric that carries The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation, and it dries fast when the day heats up. It’s what I reach for before every trip.
I still wear sunscreen on my face, neck and hands, and you should too. Add a hat and take a shade break now and then.

Every Alafia item is made after you order it, so nothing sits in a warehouse. And if your boat, team or business wants its own shirts, we do custom orders too.
